Leading Baler Machine Manufacturers

Recycling applications require a baler. Balers use a hydraulic press to crush materials into smaller, denser units. These components are then strapped, connected, or otherwise joined together. A baler machine is one of the best instruments for managing waste and recycling. Read More…

Baler Machines Baler machines, or simply balers, are devices that have been designed to compress materials into a bale for storage, transport or handling. A bale is simply a bundle of material that is tightly wrapped and bound with hoops or cords.

baler machine

Balers have a steel frame that holds a hydraulic ram, which is pushed by a pump controlled by an electric motor. This ram, or plunger, is then forced against the material being baled using pressure-pumping hydraulic oil into a cylinder. The material is compacted into a solid block or bale in the bale chamber. Once formed, a bale is automatically or manually tied before being discharged from the baler.

Types of Baler Machines

Vertical Balers

Vertical balers handle smaller volumes than most other baler options since they are made for budgets with limited resources. The material fed into a vertical baler is compressed from the top down and requires hand feeding. As a result of the time constraint associated with the required hand feeding, vertical balers work best for companies that plan to utilize them in only a limited capacity each day. Corrugated cardboard, plastic wrap, and textiles are common materials handled through vertical balers. Various designs of vertical balers are available depending on the kinds of materials that need to be treated.

Horizontal Balers

Horizontal balers are significantly more effective than vertical balers. Horizontal balers feature automatic feeding and continuous use. In addition, these balers frequently provide more force than their vertical counterparts, making it possible to process a variety of materials. Horizontal balers are a wonderful choice for companies with many recyclables since they can handle large volumes of various materials. In addition, horizontal balers offer substantial labor savings compared to a vertical baler due to their automatic feeding.

Closed-Door Horizontal Balers

Closed-door horizontal balers provide companies the greatest power for baling materials. Because of their closed-door design, they can produce highly dense bales from various materials. When the door is shut with a closed-door horizontal baler, a wall is formed so that the baler may compress materials as much as possible. The result of this increased compression is an optimally-volumized bale.

Two-Ram Balers

A two-ram baler is suitable for businesses that process various recyclable materials. The huge feed hole on these balers allows them to handle enormous amounts of material at once. Additionally, two-ram balers can create high-density bales from trash, non-ferrous scrap metal, corrugated paper, plastic, or cans.

Multi-Material Balers

Multi-material balers are made for versatility, making them somewhat less suited for industrial use than some of the options discussed above. However, multi-material balers work best in recycling facilities that deal with a variety of materials including paper, non-ferrous scrap metal, corrugated materials, plastics, textiles, and cans. A multi-material baler is ideal for a company that produces a moderate level of recyclables.

Applications of Baler Machines

Recycling Metal

Steel cans, aluminum sheets, radiator caps, copper wires, and metal clips are all compacted using balers.

Recycling of Corrugated Cardboard and Paper

Balers are used with materials including cardboard, office paper, magazines, newspapers, and other related items.

Plastic Recycling

PET (polyethylene terephthalate) and HDPE (high density polyethylene) bottles, plastic films, rigid PP (polypropylene) containers, rigid and flexible PVC (polyvinyl chloride) components, automotive plastic trash, and more are all recyclable plastics. There are balers designed to handle specific plastic materials and one must correctly sort through their different types of plastic material before use. It's crucial to avoid contamination between different types of plastic while baling to meet the requirements of the recycling plant.

Foam Recycling

Foams are low-density, lightweight materials that take up much storage space. Many polyurethane foams are thermosetting polymers that undergo irreversible changes to their properties during curing. Due to this trait, recycling such foams is challenging, and the only way to manage these wastes is through landfill storage or incineration. Balers reduce the space needed to house these foams by packing weights over a thousand pounds into just 45 cubic feet.

Textile Recycling

Used garments, carpets, rugs, wool, and other fibrous materials fall under this category. Textile baling differs from baling other materials, such as steel and plastic, in that it employs less force but calls for a spotless procedure. The basic goal of baling textiles is to minimize the amount of space needed for efficient hauling and transportation of these items.

Agricultural Applications

Animal feed is compacted using balers to conserve nutrients and manage moisture. Balers were initially developed as a way to bundle and store haystacks. The idea of baling other materials as a means of more efficient handling developed from this concept.

Benefits of Baler Machine

  • Balers provide for an easier accounting of recycled materials; in loose form, amounts can only be estimated.
  • Balers provide one with a way to reduce waste removal pickup fees through fewer, more compact loads.
  • One can more easily sell materials that have been baled since they are easier for an end user to process.
  • Balers cut labor expenses by reducing the amount of staff time required to keep materials kept together or kept apart.
  • Balers reduce the hazards and health/fire threats found in a manufacturing facility by condensing the space required to hold materials and making their transport easier.
  • Balers are made with sustainability in mind and are designed to protect the environment by reducing the volume of trash sent to landfills and preparing materials for recycling.
